About
About Ondulane
A local news site and weekly podcast reporting on Toronto's west end, and a small advertising operation built to match.
01 — Who we are
Started to cover a gap, not to fill a feed
Ondulane began in 2021 as a single weekly newsletter about Liberty Village, written because the neighbourhood's day-to-day news — zoning notices, new storefronts, transit changes — wasn't reliably covered by the larger citywide outlets. The newsletter grew into a proper site, and the podcast followed a year later once we had enough of a rhythm to record something worth listening to every Thursday.
Ondulane is operated by Blue Ant Media Corporation, the registered company behind the site, the podcast and the advertising placements we sell directly to local businesses.
What started as one person writing about one neighbourhood has grown into a small team covering five, but the approach hasn't really changed: walk the blocks, talk to the people running the businesses and sitting on the community boards, and write it up plainly. We still publish the newsletter every Monday and Thursday, and the podcast is still recorded a few steps from our front door.
02 — What we do
A site, a podcast, and three ways to advertise
We publish local reporting on the site twice a week and record a weekly podcast episode built around the stories that matter most that week. Alongside that, we sell three advertising placements to businesses who want to reach the same readers and listeners.
03 — Where we are
Based in Liberty Village, reporting the west end
Our office and recording studio are on Atlantic Avenue in Liberty Village. Coverage and advertising placements both extend across Parkdale, Queen West, Trinity Bellwoods and the Ossington strip — the same five neighbourhoods, every week, rather than a wider area we couldn't actually report on well.
Our address is 99 Atlantic Avenue, 4th Floor, Toronto, ON M6K 3J8. If you'd rather reach us directly, our contact page has phone, email and current hours.
Being based in Liberty Village means most of our reporting starts on foot: a short walk covers the King Street corridor, a streetcar ride covers Queen West and Trinity Bellwoods, and Parkdale and Ossington are a few stops further along the same line. That's also roughly how far a sidebar or podcast placement reaches.
04 — Who provides the work
The people behind the site and the studio
Editor
Assigns and edits every story, and reviews partnership articles before publication.
Audio producer
Records the weekly episode and every produced advertising spot in our studio.
Advertising coordinator
Handles bookings, scheduling and the closing reports for every placement.
05 — How we work
Three commitments we keep to
Editorial independence
Advertising never shapes what we report, and partner content is always labelled as such.
Direct communication
One person coordinates each booking from first message to closing report.
Plain reporting back
Impression, click and listen figures we send are the actual figures — never rounded up or promised in advance.
